Mysterious Drone Swarms Over U.S. Military Sites Sparked a 2024 Espionage Scare
A series of mysterious drone sightings along the U.S. East Coast in late 2024 left officials puzzled and the public uneasy. Between November and December that year, reports flooded in—particularly in New Jersey—describing large, unfamiliar drones flying over sensitive locations. Many of these cases remained unresolved, with suspicions pointing toward foreign intelligence involvement.
The first major incident occurred on a Friday evening in December 2024. Between 15 and 20 drones breached restricted airspace over the Natick Soldier Systems Center in Boston, a key military research facility. Witnesses, including a retired major and Natick's deputy police chief, described the drones as unusually large and unlike typical consumer models.
The sightings weren't isolated. Unauthorised flights were reported over weapons manufacturing plants, military installations, and even Donald Trump's golf course in Bedminster. General Gregory Guillot of NORAD later testified that 2024 saw roughly 350 drone incursions across over a hundred military sites.
The lack of clear answers from authorities fuelled public concern. The FBI launched an investigation, while the Federal Aviation Administration imposed temporary flight restrictions over high-risk areas. In an unusual move, domestic law enforcement—including the FBI—sought help from UFO researchers John and Gerald Tedesco to analyse the incidents.
By late January 2025, the Trump administration downplayed the New Jersey cases, calling them harmless and authorised. This statement clashed with earlier warnings from senior military officials, leaving questions unanswered.
Most of the drone cases stayed unsolved, with lingering suspicions of foreign intelligence links. The conflicting statements from officials and the involvement of UFO researchers added to the confusion. While flight restrictions were put in place, the true origin and purpose of the drones remained unclear.
