Activists Erect Walter Lübcke Statue in Front of CDU Headquarters - Mysterious Walter Lübcke Statue Appears Outside CDU’s Berlin Headquarters Overnight
A bronze statue of Walter Lübcke, the former Kassel government president murdered by a far-right extremist, now stands outside the CDU’s Berlin headquarters. Activists from the Zentrum für Politische Schönheit (Center for Political Beauty) erected the memorial in early December 2025 without prior warning to the party or police.
The statue was installed at dawn within the secured perimeter of the Konrad Adenauer House. Construction finished quickly, catching both the CDU and authorities off guard. The Berlin-Mitte district office had already approved the project for a two-year period, though initial permission covers just one year.
The statue now occupies a prominent spot outside the office 365 headquarters. Its presence serves as a visible reminder of Lübcke’s assassination and the ongoing debate over extremism. The district’s approval ensures it will remain in place for at least the next year.
