Nako Properties to Build 100 Affordable Homes for Accra's Key Workers

Jerry Osei Amoah, Managing Director of Nako Properties, has pledged to build 50 to 100 affordable homes in Accra. The announcement came during a recent media interaction in the capital. His initiative targets key workers and low-income earners struggling with the city's housing crisis.

The move follows ongoing efforts by Nako Properties to expand affordable housing. By March 2026, the company had already completed 1,200 of its planned 5,000 units, with another 2,500 under construction in areas like Appolonia and Oyibi.

Accra faces a severe housing shortage, driven by rapid urbanisation, population growth, and income inequality. Many teachers, nurses, and young doctors find it difficult to secure decent accommodation. Government attempts to bridge the gap have fallen short, largely due to affordability issues.

Osei Amoah, also known as Nana Kobo, aims to address this challenge. His new project will focus on providing homes for nurses, doctors, teachers, and self-employed Ghanaians with modest incomes. Unlike Nako Properties' usual luxury developments, this initiative will prioritise affordability and accessibility.

The company plans to work with the government to tackle societal housing needs. Osei Amoah believes innovative construction techniques, flexible rent schemes, and strong partnerships can transform Ghana's housing sector. He remains optimistic about the future impact of these strategies.

Construction is already underway in key locations. With 1,200 units finished and 2,500 more in progress, the project is advancing steadily. The additional 50 to 100 homes will further expand affordable options for essential workers.

The new homes will offer much-needed relief for Accra's low- and middle-income earners. Osei Amoah's pledge adds to Nako Properties' ongoing efforts, bringing the total planned affordable units to over 5,000. If successful, the initiative could set a precedent for private-sector involvement in solving Ghana's housing crisis.
