Nalasopara’s ‘repaired’ road collapses in hours, sparking outrage over shoddy work
Residents of Nalasopara East are up in arms after a recently 'repaired' road in the Santosh Bhuvan area deteriorated within hours, causing several two-wheeler accidents. The road, which leads to the national highway, was 'fixed' just a day ago but is now filled with loose gravel and lacks asphalt.
The 'shoddy' repair work has resulted in multiple two-wheeler riders skidding and falling due to scattered gravel. Auto-rickshaw drivers have expressed their anger at the improper 'repair', stating that it has affected traffic flow to the national highway. Citizens are frustrated with the persistent potholes and subpar 'patch' work, demanding 'accountability' for their tax money.
Earlier this week, MLA Rajan Naik inaugurated and performed the 'bhumipujan' for road 'repairs' in Virar and Nalasopara. However, local supporters of the Bharatiya Vidyarthi Akedemi (BVA) and former corporators have accused officials of rushing the road work for photo opportunities rather than ensuring quality. Reports suggest that road repair works in the Vasai-Virar area are being hurried ahead of the upcoming elections, compromising the quality of the 'repairs'.
The use of substandard materials in the hastened road repair works has raised concerns among the locals. While MLA Rajan Naik has initiated the 'repairs', citizens demand better quality work and 'accountability' for their tax money. The upcoming elections have also raised suspicions about the rushed road works.
