Namedy Bridge in Andernach to Face Major Traffic Restrictions from October 20, 2025
Starting October 20, 2025, the Namedy Bridge in Andernach will undergo significant traffic restrictions due to its age and current traffic volume. The bridge, over 60 years old, was not designed to handle today's traffic levels, prompting necessary safety measures.
From October 18 to 19, the B9 between Andernach-West interchange and Andernay-Namedy interchange will be fully closed to implement traffic management strategies. During this period, vehicles heavier than 40 tons will no longer be permitted to cross the bridge. For traffic heading from Koblenz towards Bonn, a detour via Brohl-Lützing onto the B9 will be recommended.
The Andernach-Namedy exit in the direction of Bad Breisig will remain accessible at all times. However, the B9 federal road on the bridge will be reduced to one lane per direction. These restrictions aim to protect the structural integrity of the bridge and ensure safety for all users.
The 'Verkehrsmanagement Rheinland-Pfalz' is coordinating long-term measures to resolve the traffic situation on the Namedy Bridge. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the detour recommendations to ensure smooth traffic flow and bridge safety.
