NDC Shifts Security Recruitment to Regional Balance
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a significant shift in its recruitment policies for Ghana's social security services. The party, led by National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, will prioritise regional balance in the selection process, moving away from the previous surname-based system.
This change will affect all social security services, with the military recruitment already underway with a regional balance focus. Other services will follow suit in the coming months. The new policy aims to ensure fair representation from all regions across Ghana.
Previously, recruitment was heavily influenced by surnames, a practice that the NDC has now abandoned. The party has not specified a timeline for the implementation of these changes or the establishment of a 'Ministry for Internal Security' to oversee this process.
The NDC's decision to prioritise regional balance in social security service recruitment is a significant step towards ensuring fairness and inclusivity. The military has already begun this process, and other services are expected to follow. This change signals a departure from the previous surname-based system, reflecting the party's commitment to a more balanced and representative social security sector.
