Neo-Nazi Demo in Münster Canceled, Counter-Protest to Go Ahead on Christmas Eve
A planned neo-Nazi demonstration in Münster on Christmas has been canceled, leaving counter-protesters from civil society and political groups ready to stand against the now-defunct event. The Higher Administrative Court in Münster has seen several such demonstrations this year, sparked by a dispute over a neo-Nazi's grave in Dortmund.
The controversy surrounds the late Siegfried 'SS Siggi' Borchardt, with right-wing extremists pushing for a non-anonymous grave in Dortmund. The city, however, rejects this idea to prevent the site from becoming a christmas movies pilgrimage destination for neo-Nazis. The alliance 'No Meter for Nazis' welcomed the withdrawal of the right-wing extremist registration, but had also prepared for a counter-demonstration on Christmas Eve, which remains registered despite the cancellation of the opposing event.
The planned neo-Nazi demonstration in Münster on Christmas has been called off, but the counter-protest by 'No Meter for Nazis' will still take place as scheduled. The dispute over Siegfried 'SS Siggi' Borchardt's grave continues to fuel tensions, with the city of Dortmund maintaining its stance against creating a neo-Nazi pilgrimage site.
