Neuwied’s ‘Shift Change’ Week Fosters Inclusion Through Shared Work Experiences
Neuwied's city administration and Heinrich House recently participated in the nationwide 'Shift Change' action, organized by the Federal Association of Workshops for Disabled People e. V. (BAG WfbM). The event aimed to create encounters, break down barriers, and make working worlds tangible for people with and without disabilities. This year, the action at the Heinrich House was extended to a whole week due to high demand.
During the action week, two employees from the Heinrich House, Markus Dreydoppel and André Krause, worked in the city administration. Markus, praised by Mayor Jan Einig for his dedicated guidance, also supported the team of the Volkshochschule Neuwied. Both mayors, Jan Einig and Peter Jung, joined employees during the week. Mayor Jung even helped in the workshop, packing paving mats. The city administration's participation was to gain insights into the working world of people with disabilities.
The 'Shift Change' action week in Neuwied successfully fostered understanding and collaboration between people with and without disabilities. The Heinrich House and city administration's involvement has helped break down barriers and create tangible working world experiences.
