New Appointments in the Departments of VDV
The Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) has announced key leadership changes in its departments. Several new and returning figures will take on major roles in rail policy, infrastructure, and public transport financing.
André John, aged 38, will head the Railway Policy and Infrastructure department at the VDV’s capital office from 1 December. He will also coordinate rail freight activities for the organisation.
Marie-Theres Woelki has been leading the rural area department since 1 September. Her role focuses on transport issues affecting less urbanised regions.
Christian Böttger previously took charge of the Rail Policy and Infrastructure Department at the VDV’s main office on 1 December 2021. His position has now shifted as part of the restructuring.
In 2024, Meinhard Zistel will return to the VDV as the head of the Public Transport Financing department. His appointment marks a comeback to the organisation in a senior financial role.
These changes bring both new leadership and experienced professionals back into the VDV. The adjustments aim to strengthen the association’s work in rail policy, rural transport, and financial oversight. All appointments take effect from their respective start dates.
