New Blumberger Damm South Bridge Opens After 4.5-Year Construction
The new Blumberger Damm South Bridge has been opened to traffic after nearly four and a half years of construction. This vital bridge provides access to Berlin’s Trauma Hospital and replaces an outdated structure that was in poor condition. The nearly 36-meter-long bridge was deemed absolutely necessary due to the poor state of the old structure and outdated construction materials. Despite extensive construction work, traffic was able to flow for the most part during the construction period. The bridge spans multiple railway tracks in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district. Juliane Witt, District Councilor for Social Affairs and Citizen Services in Marzahn-Hellersdorf, was associated with the opening of the bridge. She represents the district administration involved in local infrastructure and community developments. The opening of the Blumberger Damm South Bridge is expected to improve traffic flow and accessibility to the Trauma Hospital. The new bridge replaces an outdated structure, ensuring safety and reliability for the community.
