New Book on Chokan Valikhanov Debuts in Italy, Honoring Kazakh Historian's Legacy
A new book about Chokan Valikhanov, a prominent figure in Kazakhstan's history, has been published in Italy for the first time. 'Chokan Valikhanov and the Origins of Modern Kazakhstan' is a tribute to the 190th anniversary of the enlightener, scholar, and traveler. The Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, Aida Balayeva, has praised the book and its author, Italian professor Federico Pastore.
The monograph, translated into Italian by Giovanna Berlucci, delves into the life and work of Chokan Valikhanov. It includes an extensive section dedicated to notable Kazakh figures he encountered during his lifetime. Balayeva highlighted Valikhanov's global significance, noting that he introduced Central Asian culture and the Kazakh nation's spiritual heritage to the international scholarly community.
Pastore dedicated years to studying Kazakh sources about Valikhanov, ensuring the book's authenticity and depth. The research is also available in English, allowing a wider audience to explore Valikhanov's contributions to modern Kazakhstan.
The publication of 'Chokan Valikhanov and the Origins of Modern Kazakhstan' in Italy is expected to deepen ties between Kazakhstan and Italy.
