New Exhibition Explores the Human Stories Behind Flight and Displacement in Soltau
A new travelling exhibition is coming to Soltau in 2026, focusing on the lasting effects of flight and displacement. 'Look at Me – The Face of Flight' will share personal stories from people who found refuge in the Böhme River town over the decades. The show will run at the Heimatmuseum Soltau from April 26 to June 26.
The exhibition began as a project by the Asylkreis Haltern am See. It now brings together accounts from different eras, including the aftermath of World War II. Among the featured voices is Irene Bomblat, who was born in Riga, Latvia, in 1925.
The exhibition will highlight how flight and displacement have shaped lives across generations. It will feature portraits and personal accounts from individuals who rebuilt their lives in Soltau. Detailed updates on the featured stories can be obtained from the museum as the opening date approaches.
