New leader appointed for Terminal 5 at Al Jazeera, tasked with orchestrating growth and development phases ahead

Jazeera Airways, the leading low-cost carrier in Kuwait, has appointed Alp Er Tunga Ersoy as the new General Manager of Jazeera Terminal 5 (T5) at Kuwait International Airport. With over 25 years of international experience in airport management, ground handling, terminal operations, and customer service, Ersoy is set to lead the expansion of T5 and the development of a new terminal, Terminal 6 (T6).

Ersoy, who previously served as CEO of Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport, brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. His focus will be on enhancing efficiency, elevating the passenger experience, and shaping the future of airport travel in the region.

The strategic vision for T5 and the development of T6 aligns with Kuwait’s vision for a world-class aviation hub. The plans aim to significantly expand passenger capacity and enhance the travel experience to support Kuwait’s ambition of becoming a premier regional aviation and transit hub. This includes scaling infrastructure, operational efficiency, and advancing the service proposition with next-generation facilities.

Specifically, the plans aim to progressively raise total terminal passenger capacity from the current 5 million to 7.5 million and eventually reach 12 million passengers annually. This growth will be driven by the expansion of T5 and the creation of the new Terminal 6 (T6), which will feature enhanced infrastructure to meet future travel demands.

Under Ersoy's leadership, Jazeera Airways is focusing on expanding T5 infrastructure, developing T6 as a next-generation terminal, elevating operational efficiency, enhancing the overall passenger experience, supporting Kuwait’s vision for a world-class aviation hub, and ensuring strong returns on infrastructure investments.

Jazeera Terminal 5 has already established itself as a local and regional benchmark for efficiency and convenience. The upcoming projects signal a phase of growth and modernization that aligns with the broader strategic goal of positioning Kuwait International Airport as a key transit and aviation center in the Middle East.

Passenger traffic through Jazeera Terminal 5 has seen steady year-on-year growth, now reaching 5 million annually. This growth is driven by Jazeera Airways' expanding network across the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.

Barathan Pasupathi, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, emphasized delivering a seamless and customer-focused airport experience as central to their vision. Krishnan Balakrishnan, Deputy CEO and CFO at Jazeera Airways, stated that Ersoy will focus on enhancing operational efficiency, scaling infrastructure, and elevating the service proposition across the terminal portfolio.

Ersoy's role will encompass operations, commercial strategy, and infrastructure development for both T5 and T6. He expressed his excitement to lead both T5 and T6 through a period of rapid growth and innovation.

The development of T5 and T6 will significantly increase capacity at Jazeera Airways, with a goal to raise total passenger capacity from 5 million to 7.5 million, and eventually to 12 million. This growth will contribute to the ongoing investments in T5 and the planned development of T6, which will further boost passenger traffic at Kuwait International Airport.

Ersoy's appointment reinforces Jazeera Airways' commitment to supporting Kuwait's ambition of becoming a premier regional aviation and transit hub. The airline is unique in the region for owning and operating its own Terminal, a testament to its dedication to providing a seamless and customer-focused airport experience.
