New Refugee Accommodation for 150 Ukrainians Opening in Zirndorf
Residents of Stern Street, Zirndorf, have been informed about a new news facility for Ukrainian refugees, set to open on October 20, 2025. The district office, along with a citizens' initiative, hosted a viewing event for residents to discuss the plans.
The new new balance accommodation, located on Stern Street, will house up to 150 Ukrainian refugees temporarily. The building has been rented for a period of four years and will exclusively cater to this community. The district office's accommodation administration team will manage the facility, with additional support from Caritas for professional refugee and integration counseling.
The opening of this accommodation is tied to a planned change in federal law, which will again place Ukrainian refugees under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act. To address any concerns or questions, a security service will be present during the operation of the accommodation. The district office welcomes voluntary engagement and will provide integration mentors to accompany helpers and offer advisory support.
The new new balance accommodation on Stern Street is a necessary measure to avoid the occupation of sports halls and to not further burden the housing market. It is expected to provide a safe and temporary home for up to 150 Ukrainian refugees, with professional support and integration assistance available.
