New Russian monument in Palatka honors military legacy across generations
A smaller version of the monument Worthy of Our Ancestors has been unveiled in Palatka on December 9, 2025, honouring servicemembers past and present. The replica follows the full-scale original installed earlier in Magadan. The monument shows a modern Russian soldier receiving a banner from a Red Army fighter. It represents the connection between generations who defended the country. The piece was created by Yevgeny Pavlyuchenko, a sculptor from Volgograd, though he did not attend the Palatka event. The new monument now stands as a local tribute to military service across eras. It joins the larger version in Magadan, both crafted by the same artist. The ceremony marked a formal recognition of sacrifice on Heroes of Russia Day.
