A Russian metalworking firm, SMK Plant LLC, has been awarded a contract to restore two historic Soviet-era monuments in Zavolzhye. The project involves casting and installing the 'Lenin Peak' and 'Stalin Peak' pylons, originally built by Komsomol members. Funding of 1.42 million rubles will come from regional and local budgets.
SMK Plant LLC, based in the Nizhny Novgorod region, specialises in large-scale metal structures and memorial projects. The company was registered in January 2024 with a modest charter capital of 10,000 rubles. Ownership is split between Alexey Khilov (10%) and Valeria Artamonova (90%).
The firm reported a 2 million ruble loss in 2024, despite securing this new contract. Under the agreement, they must complete the casting and installation of both pylons within 55 working days. The original structures were erected decades ago by Komsomol activists during the Soviet period.
SMK Plant LLC operates as part of the wider SMK Group, which focuses on metallurgy and metal fabrication. Their facilities handle large-scale production, including structural and commemorative projects across Russia.
The restored pylons will return to their original location in Zavolzhye once the work is finished. The 1.42 million ruble budget will cover all casting, installation, and associated costs. Completion is expected within the set 55-day deadline.
