Nicolas Schütz to Lead Mannheim Police’s Public Relations Unit in December 2025

Nicolas Schütz will take over as the new head of the Public Relations Unit at the Mannheim Police Headquarters. His appointment comes after Sabine Abeln led the team in an acting role since May 2024. The change will officially begin on December 1, 2025.

Schütz, 34, has spent over ten years working for the Mannheim Police Headquarters. Before this role, he led the Heidelberg Traffic Police since October 1, 2023. His experience also includes leadership positions in Mannheim, Wiesloch, and the State Police Headquarters in Stuttgart.

The transition will take effect on December 1, 2025. Schütz brings extensive leadership experience to the role, while Abeln continues in a supporting position. The Mannheim Police Headquarters has confirmed the new structure for its Public Relations Unit.
