Nizhny Novgorod Governor Celebrates Unity Day with Religious Leaders
Governor Gleb Nikitin of Nizhny Novgorod Region gathered local religious leaders to celebrate Unity Day. The event highlighted the region's diverse religious landscape and unity among different ethnicities and faiths.
Nikitin praised the historical unity of Nizhny Novgorod's people in defending Russia. He noted the freedom of worship and the presence of over 800 religious organizations in the region. Rustam Akhmetov, the current chairman of the Muslim Religious Community in Nizhny Novgorod Region, was among the attendees, elected in 2023.
The meeting also included Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, Gayaz Zakirov, Eduard Chaprak, Yevgeny Lyulin, Andrei Gneushev, and Yevgeny Chintsov. Nikitin emphasized the regional government's support for religious communities and their role in preserving interethnic peace and accord.
