Nizhny Novgorod honors WWII legacy with teen-led history contests
A commission in Nizhny Novgorod has reviewed entries for two local history competitions, Hero of My Family and History in Detail. These contests are part of a broader initiative celebrating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Yevgeny Chintsov, Speaker of the City Duma, was among the jury members who assessed the submissions.
The competitions were organized under the Unity—The Path to Victory! project. Their goal is to inspire teenagers to delve into their region's past and foster connections between generations. Chintsov emphasized how this initiative helps young people engage more deeply with local history.
The winning entries will be displayed during the December 4 ceremony. The project's emphasis on historical education complements the city's commemorations of the 80th anniversary of Victory. Event organizers anticipate that the occasion will highlight the contributions of local families during the war.
