Nizhny Novgorod Writers Union re-elects leadership for continuity and vision

The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Branch of the Russian Union of Writers held its annual general meeting last week. Members elected a new governing board and audit commission, with several familiar faces returning to their roles.

Valery Sdobnyakov was re-elected as chair of the governing board. He will also remain editor-in-chief of the literary and arts journal Vertical. XXI Century and its online blog. During the meeting, he presented a report on the branch’s activities over the past year.

Boris Seleznev was re-elected to lead the audit commission. Four new members—Lyubov Egorshina, Viktor Ivenin, Yury Kurdin, and Vladimir Chugunov—joined the governing board. The journal Vertical. XXI Century has been under Sdobnyakov’s leadership since 2013, when he succeeded Sergey Shargunov in the role.

The re-election of key figures like Sdobnyakov and Seleznev ensures continuity in the branch’s leadership. The newly formed board will now oversee the organisation’s work, including its literary publications, for the coming year.
