Nordhorn Honors Kristallnacht Victims with Candlelit Remembrance Event
Nordhorn is set to host a commemorative event on November 9, 2025, at 7:00 PM to remember the 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom. The event, titled 'Remembrance and Learning', will take place at the Old Reformed Evangelical Church on Paul-Gerhardt-Straße 2.
The evening will commence with a commemorative address by Mayor Thomas Berling. Following his speech, attendees will join together in a procession to the nearby Schwarzer Garten (Black Garden) to lay a wreath at the memorial site. The event will be moderated by Gerd Naber of the Forum Jews-Christians association.
The main programme will include a short thematic play performed by students from the Ludwig-Povel School. They will also present a spoken motet, adding a poignant touch to the remembrance event.
The Nordhorn event aims to honour the victims of Kristallnacht and educate future generations about this dark chapter in history. It is open to all who wish to pay their respects and learn from the past.
