Nordhorn honors war victims with solemn Volkstrauertag ceremonies on November 16
Nordhorn will commemorate the National Day of Mourning, Volkstrauertag, on Sunday, November 16, 2025. The city has planned several ceremonies to remember the victims of war and violence.
The day will begin at 9:00 AM with Deputy Mayor Ingrid Thole laying a wreath at the Alte Schule in Bimolten. She will continue to various memorial sites throughout Nordhorn, culminating in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Klausheide War Memorial around 11:15 AM.
At 11:30 AM, a central memorial ceremony will take place in the Schwarzer Garten. While the speaker is not mentioned, Deacon (Ret.) Eckart Deitermann will deliver the address.
