Nordhorn joins federal program to revitalize its city center
Nordhorn has been chosen as one of 30 municipalities for detailed discussions within the federal program 'Future-Proof Inner Cities and Centers'. The city welcomed Frau Lihs from BBSR and Frau Alexandra Heßmann from BTU to discuss the program and learn from other projects.
The visit included an inspection of the 'Babbelbank' project, realized through the ZIZ-funded inner-city fund. Members of the Senior Citizens' Council of Nordhorn shared their experiences with the project during the discussion, which takes place every Monday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
The federal program is implemented by BBSR on behalf of the BMWSB, with scientific accompaniment provided by BTU. Nordhorn is one of 217 cities selected for the program, with the aim of gaining impulses for the city's development through learning from other projects.
Nordhorn's participation in the in-depth discussions is an opportunity to learn from successful initiatives in other municipalities. The city's Senior Citizens' Council played a key role in sharing their experiences with the 'Babbelbank' project, which could help shape Nordhorn's future development.
