North Cachar Hills Council approves interim budget for 2026-27 fiscal year

The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) held its Interim Budget Session for the 2026-27 financial year on Friday, April 1, 2026. Chairman Mohet Hojai led the proceedings as the Thirteenth NC Hills Autonomous Council gathered to review short-term financial plans.

The session focused on an interim budget designed to cover essential expenses for the next three months. This temporary allocation primarily addresses salary payments for the council's regular operations. Executive Member for Finance, Donpainon Thaosen, presented the budget, though detailed figures remain undisclosed.

As of March 2026, no public breakdown of the 2026-27 budget has been released. In previous years, spending priorities included education (20-25%), health (15%), infrastructure (30%), and salaries (25-30%). However, no official confirmation exists regarding shifts in these allocations for the current fiscal year. A full budget for 2026-27 will follow in the next Council Budget Session. This interim measure ensures continuity until the comprehensive financial plan is approved.

The interim budget secures funding for salaries and core operations over the next quarter. The council will reconvene to finalise the full budget in a later session. Until then, specific financial details remain limited to internal records.
