Wüst urges end to Bas-worker feud - North Rhine-Westphalia leader urges end to bitter labor dispute

North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister-President Hendrik Wüst has called on Federal Labor Minister Bärbel Bas and the employers’ association to end their ongoing dispute. He stressed that cooperation between labor partners and policymakers is essential, especially as fears of job losses grow again.

Wüst criticised the employers’ association for mocking Bas at a recent event, calling the behaviour unnecessary. He also warned against framing employers as adversaries, arguing that a labor minister must engage in dialogue with both sides.

The dispute between Bas and the employers’ association remains unresolved. Wüst’s comments underline the importance of constructive dialogue to prevent further tension. His intervention comes as worries about job security return to the forefront of labor discussions.
