Anger over the disclosure of Northvolt documents - Northvolt Docs Row: Ministry's Secrecy Sparks Political Storm in Schleswig-Holstein

The handling of confidential documents related to Northvolt's planned factory in Schleswig-Holstein has sparked controversy. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs has refused to share documents with the state, citing attorney-client privilege. This has led to criticism from both governing coalition and opposition representatives.

CDU economic policy spokesperson Lukas Kilian has condemned the leak of confidential documents, stating that lawmakers bear responsibility for their potential impact on federal-state cooperation and Schleswig-Holstein's business reputation. The ministry's refusal to share Northvolt documents has been described as 'utterly unacceptable' by Dirk Schrödter (CDU).

The state government holds a different legal interpretation regarding the handling of these documents. Former Economics Minister Bernd Buchholz (FDP) has demanded clarity about the remaining funds from a KfW convertible bond for the planned factory. Some funds remain unused, raising questions about the project's future.

Kilian also described the situation as 'an absolute disgrace', highlighting the need for transparency and accountability.

The dispute over Northvolt documents has led to a political row in Schleswig-Holstein. Both the governing coalition and opposition have criticized the ministry's decision and the alleged leak of confidential committee meeting details. The state government is now under pressure to resolve the situation and provide clarity on the remaining funds.
