NYPD officer arrested after allegedly threatening coworker at headquarters
A 35-year-old NYPD officer was arrested late on Thursday after allegedly threatening a colleague. Quilbvio Espinal, a 10-year veteran of the force, now faces a menacing charge following the incident at One Police Plaza in Lower Manhattan. The confrontation took place while he was on duty inside the department's headquarters. The altercation happened around 10:45 p.m. at the NYPD's main building. Espinal, assigned to the Information Security Office within the Information Technology Bureau, allegedly targeted a female civilian employee. Authorities have not released further details about the nature of the threat.
The NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau has launched an investigation into the matter. As of now, no attorney information for Espinal has been made public. The Police Benevolent Association, the union representing rank-and-file officers, has not yet commented on the arrest.
Espinal remains under investigation as the case moves forward. The NYPD has not disclosed any additional charges or disciplinary actions at this stage. The outcome of the Internal Affairs probe will determine the next steps for the officer and the department.
