Ocean Outdoor Brings Premium Digital Ads to Germany
Ocean Outdoor, a prominent digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising company, is set to enter the German market. The company, which specializes in unique outdoor advertising, will establish its operations from scratch in the country.
Ocean Outdoor's expansion into Germany comes after a series of strategic acquisitions and growth. Initially founded in London in 2004, the company was acquired by Searchlight Capital in 2018 and later by Ocelot Partners Limited. This led to expansion into seven markets, with over 4000 screens now in operation.
The company's approach to digital advertising is distinctive. Instead of quantity, Ocean Outdoor focuses on quality, using screens for art, culture, and emergency communication. This approach is designed to change public perception of outdoor advertising. Stephen Joseph, who joined the company in 2008 and has served as CEO since 2021, leads this strategy.
In Germany, Ocean Outdoor has chosen not to acquire an existing company. Instead, it aims to establish two to three premium locations in each of the top-10 cities. These locations will include large places, shopping centers, and urban hotspots. The company's innovative 'DeepScreen Alive' technology will be used to create immersive advertising experiences, combining 3D content with interaction via smartphones, gaming consoles, or social media.
To foster creativity in the industry, Ocean Outdoor launched the 'Digital Creative Competition'. Many campaigns from this initiative have gone on to win industry awards. In Germany, the company is working with private real estate developers to plan screens as part of urban development. These screens can be used for safety announcements or cultural programs.
Ocean Outdoor's entry into the German market signals a new era for digital out-of-home advertising in the country. With a focus on quality and innovation, the company aims to transform public spaces and perceptions. By working with local partners and fostering creativity, Ocean Outdoor is poised to make a significant impact in Germany.
