Off-duty officers tackle shoplifting suspect after chaotic Siemensstadt chase
A robbery at a Siemensstadt shopping centre ended with a suspect in custody. The incident began when a 26-year-old man tried to take cash from a household goods store. Police quickly intervened after the man fled the scene.
The suspect attempted to steal money from the store's cash register. As he ran from the premises, an off-duty female officer and a male colleague from the 16th Mobile Unit pursued him. Both officers managed to detain the man despite sustaining minor injuries during the struggle.
The suspect was then taken into custody for formal identification and a blood test. Police records show no recent similar crimes in Siemensstadt over the past year. The only comparable case in available data is an attempted murder from December 6, 2025.
The arrested man remains in police custody for further questioning. Authorities will examine the evidence, including the blood test results and witness statements. The two injured officers received treatment for their minor wounds.
