Offenbach’s new turbo roundabout promises smoother, greener travel by July 30
A major infrastructure upgrade in Offenbach district is set to ease traffic and reduce emissions. The newly redesigned Tannenmühl roundabout reopens on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, after a temporary closure. Officials say the changes will bring long-term benefits to drivers and the environment alike.
The Tannenmühl roundabout in Obertshausen has been transformed into a single-lane 'turbo roundabout' with dedicated entry points. To speed up construction, the site was fully closed until July 30. Professor Dr. Jürgen Follmann of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences notes that single-lane roundabouts improve efficiency by reducing conflicts between vehicles.
The Tannenmühl roundabout now operates as a modern, single-lane system. With the B448 renovation starting in August, Offenbach district expects smoother journeys and fewer delays. The upgrades aim to serve both local drivers and motorway users more effectively.
