Ohligs’ Dürpel Festival Faces Tight Budget and Leadership Shake-Up by 2026
The Ohligs Marketing and Community Association (OWG) has secured municipal funding for the 2026 Dürpel Festival, but with a condition that the event must not generate a finance. The association recently held a general meeting to discuss its activities and the future of the festival, which faces challenges due to increased security requirements and financial constraints.
The OWG has planned four open-Sunday shopping events for 2026: 'Spring Awakening', 'Pamper Sunday', 'Ohligs Connects', and 'Christmas Dürpel'. Notably, the 'Pamper Sunday' event will collaborate with the OhKi Children’s Festival, organized by the 'ISG' community group. Despite some members questioning the festival's feasibility under current economic conditions, the board has committed to continuing it.
The association is facing significant changes in its leadership. Three long-serving board members will not stand for re-election in the summer of 2026. The OWG is actively seeking new members and volunteers to fill these vacancies. Despite these transitions, the OWG remains optimistic and determined to continue its work in Ohligs.
The Dürpel Festival, an annual event, is considered a standout highlight and a vital part of Ohligs’ cultural life. The OWG, despite financial challenges and upcoming leadership transitions, is committed to ensuring the festival's continuation. The association's future plans include maintaining the festival's spirit while addressing its challenges, such as increased security requirements and financial constraints.
