OKI Launches $13.2M Pilot Street Paving Program for 22 Communities

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) has launched a pilot street paving program, investing $13.2 million to improve roads in 22 communities across Ohio and Kentucky. The initiative, approved unanimously by the OKI Board of Directors, aims to enhance regional infrastructure, guide future investments, and streamline improvement processes.

The program will fund the repaving of approximately 62 lane miles of roadways. In Ohio, 15 communities will benefit from Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) funds, while 7 communities in Kentucky will receive Northern Kentucky (SNK) funds. The approved projects will be integrated into the Statewide Transportation Improvement Programs (STIP) for both states in January 2026, with construction funding set to begin on July 1, 2026. All paving projects are expected to be completed by July 1, 2027.

OKI, a council of local governments, business organizations, and community groups, is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and economic development potential of the tristate region. The pilot program is a testament to their commitment, as it will directly improve roads in 22 communities, with a detailed list of funded projects available on the OKI website.

The OKI pilot street paving program, set to begin in 2026, will significantly improve regional roads and streets. By investing $13.2 million, OKI demonstrates its dedication to delivering meaningful infrastructure improvements across the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana region.
