Olsberg’s Volunteer Firefighters Preserve Legacy While Expanding Community Impact
Olsberg's volunteer fire department, serving a population of around 15,000, is preserving its history. The fire station's chronicle team is gathering photos and documents for an upcoming history chronicle.
The fire department, led by Deputy Chief Sebastian Voelmecke, has seen improvements in incident site hygiene and thanked members for their youth work. In the past year, there were 34 training evenings, with 15 members attending additional courses. The department consists of 38 active members, 7 honorary members, 19 youth members, and 16 children in the fire brigade.
The fire station hosted community events such as a potato roast and an Advent festival, as well as a visit from a friendly fire station. Florian Goette and Louis Schroeder joined the operational department, while Marvin Steinrucken and Bea Schroeder received promotions. The department also served as mobile rescuers for 4 cardiac arrest incidents, responded to 8 incidents, and conducted 9 traffic safety measures.
In the administrative realm, Niklas Wiegelmann was re-elected as treasurer, and Thomas Schroeder was elected as the new auditor. Despite budget constraints affecting construction projects in Olsberg, plans for new buildings in Elleringhausen and Bruchhausen remain on track.
