Olten's Town Clerk Ramon Christen steps down in March 2026
Ramon Christen will leave his position as Olten's Town Clerk at the end of March 2026. The departure follows a short tenure, having joined the administration in early 2025. Both parties agreed to the decision, which is unrelated to his job performance.
Christen took office in early 2025 and quickly became involved in key projects. He helped draft the city's 2026–2029 Action Plan, reviewing how services were delivered. His work also included developing the Government Program for 2025–2029.
During his time, Christen oversaw the transition of the City Council and parliament after the elections. His role in managing these changes was seen as crucial. However, his brief period in office meant he could not fully implement long-term plans. The City Council has now begun searching for a replacement. The recruitment process will start immediately to ensure a smooth handover.
Christen's exit was agreed upon jointly and does not reflect on his professional conduct. His successor will take over in April 2026. The new Town Clerk will inherit ongoing projects, including the Government Program and Action Plan.
