One Year Later: 52-Year-Old Identified as Cause of Fatal Accident - One Year Later: 52-Year-Old Identified as Cause of Fatal Accident
Over a year after a deadly crash in Bavaria, police have named a 52-year-old woman as the suspected driver. The incident took place on a state road between Sünching and Riekofen in September 2024. A 24-year-old man lost his life after being run over in what investigators now believe was a hit-and-run case.
The crash happened on September 4, 2024, when the victim was found fatally injured on the road. Early reports suggested he had been struck by a vehicle, but later analysis showed he was already lying in the roadway before being hit. The case remained unsolved for more than a year.
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, authorities seized the woman’s car and electronic devices belonging to her and her family. The suspect, from the district of Straubing-Bogen, was identified following recent breakthroughs in the investigation. The probe involved multiple agencies, including the Police Inspectorate Wörth an der Donau and the Kriminalpolizei under the Police Presidium Oberpfalz. The Staatsanwaltschaft Regensburg led the proceedings, ordering searches and technical evaluations. Specialists analysed vehicle data and mobile devices as part of the inquiry.
The investigation has now pinpointed a suspect after months of uncertainty. Police continue to examine evidence, including digital records and forensic findings. The case will proceed under the direction of the public prosecutor’s office in Regensburg.
