Opening hours of the Landratsamt between the holidays
The Regensburg District Office will keep its doors open during most of the Christmas and New Year period. However, closures are scheduled for key public holidays, and some services may face delays. Residents are encouraged to plan visits carefully to avoid longer queues.
The office will shut completely on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. It will also remain closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Outside these dates, regular opening hours will apply, including between the holidays and from January 2 onwards.
The City and District Health Department, along with the Job Center, will maintain their usual schedules throughout the period. Yet, no specific departments within the Regensburg District Office have confirmed extended hours for January 2 or January 5. Nearby administrations, such as Abensberg, may restrict services or close entirely on those days. Longer wait times are likely in certain departments, particularly the Vehicle Registration Office and Driver’s License Office. A surge in visitors is expected due to the upcoming deadline for exchanging older driving licences. Staff shortages during the holidays may further slow down processing times. To avoid unnecessary delays, residents are advised to postpone non-urgent visits. Choosing quieter days could help reduce congestion in the busier departments.
The district office will return to full operations on January 2 and January 5. However, visitors should prepare for possible delays, especially in high-demand services. Those needing assistance are urged to check specific department availability before arriving.
