Austrian broadcaster ORF has delayed its planned documentary about Natascha Kampusch. Thema Spezial: Natascha Kampusch – Trapped in Freedom was set to air on ORF 2 at 8:15 p.m. on March 16. The decision follows concerns raised by Kampusch's representatives and legal debates over her rights.

The postponement comes after criticism from Kampusch's doctors and media team. They argued that the documentary could misrepresent her story or exploit her experiences. ORF later stated that differing legal views on Kampusch's personality rights led to the delay.

Kampusch herself has had a complicated relationship with media coverage. While she has spoken out against sensationalised portrayals, she has also taken part in select projects to share her story accurately and respectfully. In place of the documentary, ORF will now broadcast *The Million Pound Show* and an extended *kulturMONTAG* featuring highlights from the Oscars. The change was announced shortly after the decision to pull the original programme. The White Ring, an organisation supporting victims' rights, welcomed ORF's move. They described it as a responsible step in protecting Kampusch's privacy and dignity.

The documentary's future remains uncertain, with ORF yet to announce a new broadcast date. For now, the broadcaster has replaced it with alternative programming. The decision highlights ongoing tensions between media storytelling and the rights of individuals involved.
