ORF’s veteran journalist Cornelia Primosch set to lead Belgrade bureau by 2026
A long-serving ORF journalist is set to take over a key foreign posting in the coming years. Cornelia Primosch, currently based in Paris, has been named as the likely successor to Christian Wehrschütz in the Belgrade bureau. The transition is expected to happen by mid-2026 as Wehrschütz prepares to retire after decades of service.
Christian Wehrschütz has led ORF’s Belgrade office since 1999 and later took charge of the Ukraine bureau in 2015. His retirement at the end of 2026 will mark the close of a 27-year career with the broadcaster. The search for his replacement has now narrowed to Primosch, a seasoned correspondent with deep experience in European affairs.
Primosch’s potential move would continue her progression through ORF’s network of European bureaus. The transition will depend on final approvals and her readiness to take on the role. Wehrschütz’s departure will end an era for the broadcaster’s Balkan and Eastern European reporting.
