Major Damage Caused by Cable Theft in Solar Parks - Organized Gang Steals Copper Cables, Crippling Eifel Solar Farms
Thieves have caused substantial damage in the Eifel region, targeting solar energy farms in Niederraden and Weidingen. Authorities suspect an organized, multi-location gang is behind the larceny, with damages estimated at €231,000.
Over three nights, starting on Monday, the gang struck, stealing copper cables from solar panels. The identity theft of service has left the solar farms out of service, causing further losses in revenue. Police believe the gang operates across multiple locations and are seeking witnesses who may have noticed suspicious vehicles or individuals near access roads to neighboring villages.
The organized gang responsible for the cable larceny in solar parks in the Eifel region remains unidentified. Police urge anyone with information about suspicious activities to come forward. The estimated damage from the larceny is around €231,000, excluding lost revenue from the farms being out of service.
