Osnabrück Celebrates Peace Month with UN Exhibits and Global Dialogues

Osnabrück gears up for Peace Month this October, commemorating the 377th anniversary of the Peace of Westphalia. The city will host a range of events, including exhibitions, discussions, and cultural performances, all centred around the theme of peace and the work of the United Nations.

Kicking off the month-long celebration is the exhibition '#TheUNandUS' (October 2 - November 7), which aims to shed light on the various tasks and responsibilities of the United Nations. The Peace of Westphalia, signed in Osnabrück in 1648, will be a significant focus, with discussions highlighting its enduring global relevance.

On October 23, a Peace Dialogue will delve into crucial topics of climate and resource protection. Meanwhile, film enthusiasts can enjoy the 40th FilmFest Osnabrück (October 7-12) and participate in the competition for the Peace Film Prize. The German Foundation for Peace Research will also mark its 25th anniversary with a public lecture on October 8.

The month will also feature a panel discussion on 'The Future of the United Nations in a Changing World Order' on October 24, exploring the organisation's role in today's global landscape. Cultural events include a concert 'Melodies as Resistance - Musica pro pace' at the University's Aula on October 5.

Osnabrück's Peace Month promises to be a thought-provoking and engaging celebration of peace and international cooperation. With a diverse range of events, the city invites all to reflect on the past, engage with the present, and look towards the future.
