Osnabrück Film Fest's 40th: Exploring Immigration & Identity Through Cinema

Osnabrück's Film Festival, celebrating its 40th anniversary, hosts a thought-provoking panel discussion this Saturday. The event, titled 'Migration and Identity in Film', explores Germany's rich cinematic history reflecting immigration and belonging. It's free and starts at 3 pm at the Felix-Nussbaum-Haus.

The panel delves into key topics such as the guest worker debate, the tumultuous 'baseball bat years', and current refugee migration and integration. Leading the discussion are experts from the University of Osnabrück's Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS), think tank Migration Policy e.V., filmmaker Serpil Turhan, and cultural scientist Aurora Rodonò. They will explore how cinema has mirrored and influenced Germany's evolving attitudes towards immigration over the past four decades.
