Nizhny Novgorod’s public self-governance bodies wrapped up a busy year with a closing conference in 2025. Over 200,000 residents took part in more than 20,000 events organised by local TOSES and neighbourhood centres. Officials praised the efforts of volunteers and leaders who drove community improvements across the city.

The year’s achievements included major urban projects. The Preserve Nizhny initiative upgraded 47 playgrounds and added 800 new trees and shrubs. Another key programme, For Every Courtyard, brought together 20,000 people across 82 locations to enhance local spaces.

Education and social engagement also saw growth. The *University for Seniors* involved 24,000 retirees in learning and community activities. Meanwhile, international ties expanded through visits to Minsk, Belarus, and discussions with Zhuhai, China. At the conference, Deputy City Administrator Vladimir Anisimov commended the work of self-governance groups and pledged ongoing support. Yevgeny Chintsov, Chairman of the City Duma, recognised the commitment of those improving urban life. Oksana Dektereva, Director of the Public Self-Governance NGO, also honoured active TOSES chairs and neighbourhood leaders with letters of appreciation for their contributions.

The conference highlighted the scale of community-driven efforts in 2025. With thousands of events and widespread participation, local initiatives reshaped public spaces and social programmes. City officials and organisers reaffirmed plans to continue collaboration in the coming year.
