Overcrowded buses in Syktyvdinsky District spark calls for urgent reforms
Overcrowding on bus routes 101 and 174 in Syktyvdinsky District has left passengers struggling to board during peak times. The issue has caused repeated delays, prompting local authorities to take action. Now, officials are reviewing residents’ suggestions to improve the situation.
The problem arises daily between 7:00–8:30 AM and 5:00–6:30 PM, when buses fill beyond capacity. Many passengers have been unable to get on, leading to frustration and longer wait times.
Local residents have put forward several solutions. These include borrowing successful transport strategies from Syktyvkar, enforcing stricter schedule adherence, adding more trips during busy periods, and swapping current buses for larger vehicles. District leaders have confirmed they will examine these ideas closely.
The Syktyvdinskaja Rajonverwaltung will factor in the proposals when negotiating new contracts with transport operators. Authorities aim to implement changes that ease congestion and ensure smoother journeys for commuters.
Residents’ input will shape the next steps in tackling overcrowding on routes 101 and 174. The district plans to adjust contracts with bus companies based on the feedback received. If adopted, the changes could reduce delays and improve reliability for daily travellers.
