Paderborn’s Volunteer Fire Department Reappoints Deputy Chief for Sixth Term
Hubertus Henning will serve another six years as deputy chief of Paderborn’s Volunteer Fire Department. The city council reappointed him unanimously in a meeting on 22 May. His fifth term begins on 20 September this year.
Henning first took on the role in 2001, succeeding Karl-Heinz Tecklenburg, who had led from 1995. Over two decades, he has earned consistent support from both the council and the fire service. In March, department members also backed his reappointment in a separate hearing.
At the council session, Mayor Michael Dreier congratulated Henning in person. He presented the deputy chief with a bouquet of flowers to mark the occasion. Henning responded by thanking the council for their confidence and pledged to keep working closely with the team.
The reappointment extends Henning’s long-standing leadership in the fire department. His next term runs until 2030, ensuring continuity in the role. The council’s unanimous vote reflects broad approval of his record over the past 23 years.
