The Pakistan Navy has reported the commissioning of the indigenously designed PNS Sahiwal Gun Boat, following a launching ceremony held at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW). The event was covered by Radio Pakistan.

The PNS Sahiwal Gun Boat, equipped with high-performance, long-range semi-automatic guns, is set to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Pakistan Navy in maritime missions. Field Marshal Asim Munir, who presided over the induction and witnessed the demonstration, expressed satisfaction over the high standards of readiness. He also lauded the exceptional morale, professionalism, and combat proficiency of the troops.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army has inducted the Z-10ME attack helicopters, advanced Chinese medium-weight attack helicopters featuring key capabilities such as a top speed of up to 300 km/h, a combat range of approximately 800–1,200 km, and an operational service ceiling of about 6,000 meters. These helicopters offer significant enhancements to Pakistan’s aerial combat capabilities and are a cost-effective alternative to Western attack helicopters, addressing the need to upgrade from older platforms like the Bell AH-1F Cobra.

The Z-10ME is equipped with advanced avionics, including night vision, missile approach warning, and infrared countermeasure systems, which enhance survivability and combat effectiveness. They are also armed with guided missiles and a 23mm cannon. The induction of these helicopters marks a strategic step for Pakistan, potentially shifting regional military dynamics by modernizing its attack helicopter fleet with technically capable, cost-efficient hardware compatible with other Chinese military assets.

During the induction and firepower demonstration, which took place at the Muzaffargarh Field Firing Ranges, Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated the Army's firm resolve to maintain a decisive edge in the evolving character of warfare. He also interacted with troops and reaffirmed the Pakistan Army's commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The successful demonstration of combined arms tactics was also appreciated by Field Marshal Asim Munir, reflecting the Army's readiness to adapt to the changing nature of warfare. The Z-10ME attack helicopters are further equipped with advanced radar systems and electronic warfare suites, enhancing their capabilities in diverse aerial and ground threats.

The PNS Sahiwal Gun Boat is currently under construction at KS&EW and will play a crucial role in enhancing the Pakistan Navy's capabilities in the future. The induction of the Z-10ME attack helicopters and the commissioning of the PNS Sahiwal Gun Boat are significant milestones in the modernization of Pakistan's military capabilities.
