The image shows a group of people standing in front of a fire truck, clapping their hands and smiling. Two of the people are holding a pair of scissors and a red cloth, while the others are clapping. In the background, there are trees, wires, and a clear blue sky. It appears to be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Alexandria Fire Department.

Passau's Fire Brigade Honors Outgoing Mayor with Lifetime Membership

The Grubweg Volunteer Fire Brigade has honoured Lord Mayor Jürgen Dupper with an honorary membership. The gesture came as the city of Passau prepares to invest €16 million in a new full-time fire station. Dupper praised the brigade's decades of service to the community.

The ceremony marked Dupper's farewell, where firefighters presented him with a commemorative book. They recognised his long-standing support and the brigade's vital role in Passau's safety. The unit, with 53 active members, operates a range of vehicles, from a fire tanker and turntable ladder to a rescue boat and rapid response car.

During the event, Dupper stressed the brigade's indispensable work. He highlighted their reliability as a cornerstone of the city's emergency response for years. The new day-shift facility on Leonhard-Paminger-Straße will further strengthen Passau's fire and disaster protection capabilities.

The brigade's fleet also includes an oil spill response vehicle, a crew transport van, and a truck with a loading crane. Their equipment reflects the wide scope of emergencies they handle across the region.

The honorary membership underscores the close bond between the brigade and the city's leadership. Passau's €16 million investment will modernise its fire services, ensuring continued protection for residents. The Grubweg Volunteer Fire Brigade remains a key part of that effort.
