Turkish Airlines Reports Strong Growth and Improved Efficiency in First Seven Months of 2025
Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Turkey, has announced impressive growth and efficiency improvements in the first seven months of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.
According to a statement released by the company on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) on Thursday, Turkish Airlines (THY) carried 51.2 million passengers from January to July 2025, marking a 4.7% increase year-over-year. This growth was driven by a significant surge in international-to-international transfer passengers, which jumped 12.8% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 3.3 million in July alone. The number of international-to-international passengers increased by 9% to 19.6 million in the same period.
The airline's improved efficiency is evident in the load factor, which rose by 0.6 percentage points to 82.1% for the seven-month period. The load factor for July was even higher, at 84.8% internationally and 90.6% domestically.
The growth in passenger traffic was accompanied by an increase in available seat kilometers (ASK). Turkish Airlines' ASK leaped 8.7% to 25 billion in July 2025, and overall, ASK rose by 6.1% to 153.9 billion in the seven months.
In addition to passenger growth, Turkish Airlines also reported an increase in cargo and mail volume. Cargo and mail volume went up 11.2% year-over-year to 191,100 tons in July 2025, and in the seven-month period, it rose by 4.4% to 1.21 million tons.
The airline's fleet size also expanded, with 491 aircraft in operation as of the end of July 2025, compared to 458 the previous year.
However, the statement did not provide information about the financial performance of the airline.
This data indicates steady growth in passenger demand, improved load efficiency, and increased cargo volumes for Turkish Airlines in the first seven months of 2025 compared to 2024. The airline's continued success is a testament to its resilience and adaptability in the face of ongoing challenges in the aviation industry.
The continued growth in passenger demand and the increased cargo volumes suggest a positive trend for Turkish Airlines in the finance sector, potentially leading to improved financial performance in the aviation industry. The expansion of the airline's fleet size also indicates a significant investment in the transportation sector.
