Peine Mayor Urges Calm, Proposes Parking Compromise for City Center
Peine's Mayor Klaus Saemann is urging calm and mediation in the ongoing debate about abolishing free Saturday parking in the city center. He has proposed a compromise solution to balance the needs of local businesses and visitors.
Mayor Saemann has been emphasizing the city's efforts to boost its center and support local businesses. Programs like 'Perspektive Innenstadt', 'Zukunftsfähige Innenstädte und Zentren', and 'Zukunftsräume Niedersachsen' are funding these initiatives, with Peine Marketing GmbH playing a key role.
Saemann suggests introducing a parking disc regulation for Saturdays. In Tariff Zone I, parking would be limited to one hour, while Zone II would allow up to three hours. This, he believes, would keep the city center visit free while easing pressure on heavily used parking areas.
Mayor Saemann calls for a fact-based discussion to agree on his proposal. He hopes all parties involved will support this compromise, which aims to maintain free access to the city center while addressing parking capacity concerns.
