Pemex denies ongoing ties to Miss Universe after Bosch’s victory
Mexican state oil company Pemex has clarified its position regarding ties to the Miss Universe organisation. After celebrating Fátima Bosch’s recent victory, the company stressed it has no current links to the pageant’s leadership. Officials also denied ongoing contracts with firms connected to Raúl Rocha Cantú, the competition’s president.
In 2023, Pemex awarded a contract to PJP4 de México and Soluciones Gasíferas del Sur, two companies owned by Rocha Cantú. The agreement lasted under a year and concluded in the same period. Jorge Luis Flores, a Pemex employee, was responsible for overseeing the contract’s approval.
Pemex later confirmed it no longer holds any active business relationship with Rocha Cantú’s companies. The company also made clear it played no role in the management or leadership of the Miss Universe competition. Despite publicly congratulating Bosch on her win, Pemex stated its recognition stemmed from national pride rather than any affiliation with the pageant’s organisers.
The company has reaffirmed its commitment to ethical practices and anti-corruption measures. Pemex insists it maintains strict integrity standards across all operations. No further contracts with Rocha Cantú’s businesses are currently in place.
