Pensioner, 93, Recovers Stolen 250,000 Rubles After Prosecutor's Office Intervention
A 93-year-old pensioner in Borzinsky District has had 250,000 rubles in unpaid pension benefits recovered, thanks to the assistance of the Trans-Baikal Prosecutor’s Office. The money was stolen by a 24-year-old woman named Arina Nikolaevskaya, who has been barred from leaving the city and has pledged to return the full amount.
The pensioner, unaware of the theft, was preparing to buy medication when the crime was discovered. Arina Nikolaevskaya, the suspect, confessed to the crime after being quickly identified by police. She claimed she stole the money to repay microloans. A criminal case has been opened over the theft.
Arina Nikolaevskaya, a 24-year-old woman, has been accused of stealing 130,000 rubles from the elderly pensioner. The Prosecutor’s Office has successfully recovered the full amount of 250,000 rubles, including the stolen funds and the unpaid pension benefits.
